ABSTRACT: Addressing the Future Skills Needs in Vocational Education explores strategies for anticipating and meeting future skills demands within vocational training programs. This study aims to identify emerging skills gaps and develop proactive approaches to curriculum design and delivery. The objectives were: to analyze current and future trends in skills demand across industries relevant to vocational education, to assess the readiness of vocational programs to address these emerging skills needs, and to propose recommendations for enhancing curriculum flexibility and responsiveness. A survey design was employed to collect detailed data from industry experts, vocational educators, and policymakers, providing insights into future skills projections and educational responses. A sample size of 250 respondents was selected using a purposive sampling technique to include participants with expertise in workforce planning and vocational education. The case study focused on the Kano State Polytechnic, Kano State. Findings indicated significant gaps between current vocational curricula and future skills requirements, emphasizing the need for agile curriculum development and industry collaboration. It was recommended that vocational institutions should conduct regular skills gap analyses, establish advisory boards with industry representation, and integrate flexible learning pathways to adapt quickly to changing skills demands.
